Tarot - Knight of Air (First Posted Dec. 7, 2010)

With the wind blowing and his red cape streaming over the hindquarters of his white steed, he extends his sword and leaps into the fray.  His mind is swift, keen and ready for the kill.  He is intellectually passionate and ready to cross swords with all who prove themselves to be willing and able.

The horse he urges on carries him from victory to victory.  He fights for the rights of others to have an opinion.  He champions those in his kingdom without a voice.  He will be king of the realm of air in due time but, for now, he is ever at its beck and call in his role as its knight.  He delights in all his elevated position requires of him and he lives to right wrongs.

Sometimes, he is too quick to take up a cause and, at this time, he must humble himself in order to correct his ways.  Sometimes, his armor is too bright and his sword too sharp.  Sometimes he cuts too deeply and his intellectual passion needs curbing.

Yet, despite his rashness he believes in himself as is required of a knight of the realm.  His blood runs hot and his battle cry rings with confidence.  His courage in intellectual debate is unparalleled.  He holds back nothing.

He dreams of the day he will be king and rule his kingdom with fairness and justice.  To ready himself for this day he takes his cues from his sire, the King of Air, but he also follows the dictates of his own mind.  He is a true son.

He races across the wind swept landscape hoping to travel as swiftly as his thoughts.  He is high minded and principled.  His thoughts fly as high as the birds which circle in the air above him.

His razor sharp spurs propel him, ever more swiftly, towards his royal destiny.

PLEASE NOTE:  This interpretation is based purely on the feelings I experience when I  focus on, and merge with, the images in the card combined with how I understand the Minor Arcana of the Rider-Waite deck dovetails with the Tree of Life in the Qabalah (as taught by Wald and Ruth Ann Amberstone, co-founders of The Tarot School in New York City, NY).
